Thermostat

In the case of electric heating systems, thermostat control is essential both for safety and energy efficiency purposes.

When using electric underfloor heating (heating foil, heating mat, heating cable), it is mandatory to use a thermostat equipped with a floor sensor. For supplementary, tempering heating or for rooms that are rarely used, a simpler thermostat may suffice. However, for standalone heating systems, we always recommend using a programmable, digital thermostat that allows for timed settings.

In electric heating systems, the thermostat is a key component through which all basic and safety settings are adjusted to match our daily routines.

You can learn more about the types of thermostats in the text below.

TYPES OF THERMOSTATS

Thermostats can be categorized based on their usage: thermostats for underfloor heating, thermostats with external sensors, and thermostats for heaters. Furthermore, they can be grouped based on their appearance, such as push-button or touch screen devices, colored or non-colored displays, black or white colors, and customizable frames, etc. You can also choose between remotely controllable Wi-Fi models or locally programmable ones.

In the case of controlling infrared panels or infrared dark radiators, you can also choose thermostats without sensors.

When electric heating serves as the primary heating system, choosing the right control technology is crucial. Digital programmable thermostats offer assistance in this regard. You can set the desired temperature for each day of the week and each time period to match your lifestyle.

DIGITAL THERMOSTATS

Thermostats are sensor devices that sense the temperature and send the corresponding signal to the heating system. Therefore, they turn on when the sensor measures below the set temperature and turn off when it reaches it.

There is no electronics in them; they have a bimetal switch connected to the thermometer device, so they hardly ever break.

Naturally, it's important to place the thermostat correctly since it should regulate suitable temperatures for us. Therefore, it should not be placed near doors or windows, heating elements, or hidden behind furniture as this distorts the results. During planning, it is advisable to calculate the installation at the height of a light switch.

Digital thermostats are programmable, allowing for timed settings. In the Dimat range, there are types of thermostats that can be controlled via mobile applications (iOS and Android). Remote programming is available on these devices, and you can set child lock or device lock on them. Another advantage of the application is quick programming and device recognition on your phone. They are simple, self-explanatory, user-friendly devices.

WHY SWITCH TO ELECTRIC HEATING?

  • High efficiency, cost-effective operation
  • Energy-efficient systems can be achieved with proper programming
  • Almost immediate noticeable effects
  • Underfloor heating can be installed under any type of flooring
  • Suitable heating elements can be chosen for any environment
  • Can be used for outdoor frost protection (carports, walkways, drainpipes)
